Dagmar Moldovanu (b. 1986; RO) works with everyday objects ranging from domestic spaces to systems of production, transportation, and infrastructure. Here, these things become material agents that act back on us not only through their ascribed function and design, but through a material potential exceeding their thinghood. In many of her works, familiar objects are detached from their common function by exposing their raw materiality, showing them as flexible, unfinished, and open again, turning a thing’s matter against itself. At other times, her practice bridges vision and matter, synaesthetically scratching at the wall separating image and eye.es vision and matter, synaesthetically scratching at the wall separating image and eye.
