Named after the virginal symbol and current Prime Minister Theresa May’s constituency, ‘MAIDENHEAD’ marks the first exhibition curated by OTP. A mixed-media group show comprised of vivid impasto portraits (Kome Eleyae), starkly contrasted silver gelatine prints (Dan Hotz) and painted sculptures incorporating the bodies of dead insects (Oscar Gilbert), the three participating artists jointly occupy a variety of aesthetic positions. Whilst Eleyae’s paintings explore notions of role modelling and idolisation, Hotz’s photography embodies the hardened brutality of industrial structure and Gilbert’s collaged sculptures evoke a sense of repression and the bestial, in the human subject. Notions of splitting and connection and prominent throughout.
'MAIDENHEAD' runs from 28 July - 30 July 2017 at Church Street Gallery, Marylebone.
